This client had a typical builder rail above the stair coming up from their lower level. The design of the home and the owner’s attention to detail in design necessitated the creation of a replacement befitting the rest of their interior.
This was a special job. The mid-century flat work had stress fissures all over and the patio has sagged out with age. The supports underneath had been modernized but, because the condition of the cantilevered concrete, the client agreed that using the existing posts (rather than making new perforations in the worn concrete for new ones) was a safer method of updating the rail.
This is a small retrofit gate we created out of a panel of the existing fence to allow this client access to the Greenbelt behind their home without having to walk around or drive to a city access point. If you need a gate fitted in to existing fencing it takes two days.
