This is a custom rail job where the client opted away from the usual cold-rolled round rod look and for a cold rolled flat stick stringer. The outcome is striking. They are extremely sturdy but have a very slim professor and modern architectural look. The rails give their new home a modern museum look.
This was a quick custom gate project for a friends parents who have a bed and breakfast in West Austin.
We set the post the say before and made the gate and fittings an hung it the next. We attached “dead man” brackets to the stone column behind the post to give it rigidity and prevent future sag in the gate.
This is a custom rail retrofit in a beautiful older modern overlooking down town and the UT campus. And , IT’S FOR SALE!! Ask me for details.
Because o the volume (120 linear feet) and because the existing rails are SO sturdy, we decided to bring them to code by adding to the original piece. The designer went with a 1/2″ cold-rolled round stick in order to give the rail a cabled look at half the cost. You can see the older steel painted but flaking badly and the brighter cold-rolled stringers intermittent in the design. This will be cleaned up and painted next week before the porch is resurfaced in an off-white smooth stone. It will be quite beautiful.
This is a great design Blanche Gill (one of the interior designers we work with) and Jason Williams (custom builder) came up with for a very large fireplace surround.
